Everest Base Camp trekking via Jiri 24 days is challenging and adventurous for those trekkers, who are wishing to have long trek on Himalayas of Nepal. Our trip begins with a long drive from Kathmandu to Jiri. 

Starting trek through lower part of Everest region from Jiri crossing several settlements, forests, bridges, mini-settlements, and monuments ends at Lukla. This trial encounters the real giant face of Mount Everest (8,848 m), Mount Lhotse (8,516 m), Mount Nuptse (7,816 m) and Mount Amadablam (6,812 m) with many other well-known mountains. Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300 m)
Today starting day of our trip, we send our organization agents to pick you up at Tribhuwan International Airport. You will be heartily welcomed with greetings and shifted towards tourist standard hotel. We additionally plan for meeting at our office for a discussion about upcoming trek.

Day 2: Kathmandu sightseeing and trekking preparation
Kathmandu valley is the real spot to sight major cultural and historical sites. Early morning, we step forward for sightseeing some historical spots which are on UNESCO World Heritage Site. After spending some hours to explore these locations, we return back for finalizing our trekking equipment, which is required during our trek and this night we spend at the fine hotel in Kathmandu.  

Day 3: Drive to Jiri (1,955 m) 7 to 8 hours by bus
Early morning after having delicious breakfast, our private vehicle transfers us to the bus station to catch a bus towards Jiri. After that leaving Kathmandu, we pass through Bhaktapur, Banepa, Dhulikhel and many other large settlements viewing terraced field and following Araniko highway to reach Jiri. After stepping Jiri, we explore the town for some hours and spent a night at the lodge in Jiri.

Day 4: Trek to Shivalaya (1,770 m) 4 to 5 hours walk
Today, we develop our trek climbing through steep rocky and dusty path viewing the famous snow-capped mountains including Ganesh Himal and Langtang Lirung to reach Chitre. From there, the trail drops down to the riverside and crossing suspension bridge finally takes to the bottom of the valley, Shivalaya. Leisure hours will be spent by exploring the village of Shivalaya and night will be spent at Lodge there. 

Day 5: Trek to Bhandar (2,190 m) 5 to 6 hours walk
Leaving beautiful village Shivalaya, we start the uphill climb and finally at the top of the hill, we step Deurali (2,710 m). From here, crossing a pleasing forest trial drops downhill which leads towards Bandar. Finally, after stepping aimed destination of the day remaining hours will be spent by exploring Tibetan Gompas and twin stupa there and this night will be spent at a lodge in Bandar. 

Day 6: Trek to Sete (3,220 m) 7 hours walk
Aiming our destination, we move forward passing different settlements of Dokharpa and Baranda. Along walking downhill through the pleasing forest takes to Likhu River. From there, crossing bridge over Khola, we continue our walk towards Likhu Khola valley and climb a ridge to ascend Kinja along short walk takes to Chimbu and continuing walk through rhododendron forest offers Sete for stay overnight. 

Day 7: Junbesi (2,700 m) 6 to 7 hours walk
Today, we trigger our trek early morning with a steep climb through Rhododendron, pine and juniper forests followed by few scattered farmhouses and tea houses till Lamjura pass. Enjoying the awesome view of green hills trial drops towards Sherpa village Junbesi by crossing a lovely forest. This night will be spent at the lodge in Junbesi. 

Day 8: Acclimatization day
Though we are at acceptable elevation, we have separated this day as acclimatization day to make our trip more easy and effective. This day, we spend our day by exploring Junbesi (Sherpa village) or by hiking up to Phugmochhe to visit traditional Sherpa Art center. For remaining few hours, we rest at a lodge and spent this overnight at same lodge in Junbesi. 

Day 9: Trek to Nunthala (2,194 m) 6 to 7 hours walk
Today crossing a wooden bridge, we reach trail junction and following that trial, we climb up the pleasing forest and descent to Phurteng to sight the first view of giant Mount Everest along with many other famous mountains too. Continuing walk through crossing numerous of rivers and settlements along Trakshindo La pass, we walk down to Trashingo. From here, short walk passing rhododendron forest and terraced fields offers Nunthala for an overnight stay. 

Day 10: Trek to Khari Khola (2,040 m) 4 to 5 hours walk
Today, we develop our trial descending downward towards Dudh Koshi River till we meet the bridge. After crossing the bridge across the river, we walk towards Jubing passing terraced fields and forests and then we straight head toward Churkha and from here, easy step climb takes us to a Sherpa village of Khari Khola to spend a night. 

Day 11: Trek to Paiya (2,730 m) 5 to 6 hours walk
Developing our easy steps forward from Khari Khola, the trial first takes to cross a suspension bridge and a steep ascend offers Bupsa. From Bupsa, the trial further rises towards Kharte crossing woods and few tea shops and we continue our walk forward viewing mountains until we reach Paiya. After stepping Paiya, we spent our night there. 

Day 12: Trek to Phakding (2,652 m) 6 to 7 hours walk
Quitting Paiya at morning time, we pass Surke walking through winding trials and climb towards Chaurikharka (best fertile land of Khumbu Region). Continuing our walk, after a short time we can join regular Everest Base Camp trail at Lukla and after 3 to 4 hours walk from Lukla, Phakding is steeped. After that, this night will be spent at the lodge in Phakding. 

Day 13: Trek to Namche (3, 440 m) 6 to 7 hours 
Today, leaving Phakding and following our trek forward through the east bank of Dudh Koshi River along crossing several suspension bridges and attractive rhododendron forests, we reach Monjo (gateway of Sagarmatha national park) where you can enjoy tea shops. From Monjo, ultimately permit check post arrives and finishing all the terms, we start to walk uphill and finally we reach Namche Bazaar for spending our night.

Day 14: Acclimatization day
This day is also separated for acclimatization day because we are on high increasing elevation more than 3,000 m so we need proper acclimatization for that and we don’t develop our step upward this day but this day we plan to explore throughout nearby villages, visit museum, national parks and enjoy on internet free cafes on beyond time.

Day 15: Trek to Tengboche (3,867 m) 4 to 5 hours walk
Developing early trek through the glacial walk of Dudh Koshi River, enjoying views of Mount Everest, Mount Nuptse, Mount Lhotse and Amadablam along passing settlements, mini walls and pleasing forests finally offers Sansa. From here, we take a steep ascend to step Tengboche and we explore monastery thereon remaining hours before joining lodge there. 

Day 16: Trek to Pheriche (4,240 m) 4 to 5 hours walk
On day sixteenth leaving a beautiful village, we drop our walk down towards the river and after crossing the noisy river, we walk through lush forest and mini-settlements to ascend up to Pangboche. From there, again we climb up passing alpine meadows and yak herds until we reach Pheriche. The night will be spent at the lodge in Pheriche.

Day 17: Acclimatization day
This day is also divided as acclimatization day at an elevation above 4,000 m. For proper acclimatization, we spend our day by exploring Pheriche or as an option we can hike up towards rigid for enjoying and noticing the stunning view of great mountains. We also study culture and lifestyle of people in Pheriche and this night will also be spent at the same lodge on Pheriche. 

Day 18: Trek to Lobuche (4,928 m) 4 to 5 hours
Developing moderate and easy trek leaving Pheriche trail leads towards Imja valley. Developing our trek forward, we step Dingboche on same way crossing Khumbu Khola valley and Dughla offers Dusa. After reaching Dusa, valley begins to narrow down and walking forward towards roaring stream leaving glacier behind, takes to Lobuche for stay overnight. 

Day 19: Trek to Everest base camp (5,380 m and Gokarshep (5,160 m) 3 to 4 hours
We head forward quitting Lobuche along passing pyramid sign and targeting Everest base camp. After few ups and downs we reach Gokarshep, and following the route, walking through rocky trail and glaciers finally we step Everest base camp. Nearly small ascend offers 360 views of tall mountains from the top which is satisfying. After spending some hours of time to capture the moments, we come down to Gokarshep to stay and spent overnight. 

Day 20: Trek to Kalapathar (5,545 m) and Dingboche (4,410 m) 3 to 4 hours
From Gokarshep, we start our walk upward aiming to reach Kalapathar early morning before sunrays hit the mountains. After walking some hours leaving Gokarshep, we reach the famous viewpoint of Kalapathar to sight amazing view of Kalapathar being changed by the morning direct sunlight. After spending some hours, we walk back catching earlier developed route till Dingboche for overnight. 

Day 21: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440 m) 7 to 8 hours walk
Early morning crossing Imja valley, the moderate walk takes to Pheriche and from Pheriche, we drop down to Pangboche valley before steeping Tengboche. Steep descent from Tengboche crossing Dudh Koshi River takes to Sansa and Namche Bazaar is an easy walk from here. After a long walk, we step Namche bazaar and this night will be spent at the fine hotel here. 

Day 22: Trek to Lukla (2,652 m) 6 to 7 hours
This day following our trek, we drop down to cross the bridge across Dudh Koshi River and a little distance walk offers Monjo. Finishing some considerations on same pass point we descend to Phakding crossing other settlements. Following the trail crossing same Lush forests and rivers expanding lifestyle of Sherpa settlement and terraced field will finally offer you Lukla. This is the last night to spend on the Himalayas. 

Day 23: Fly to Kathmandu (1,300 m) 30 to 35-minute flight
After having light breakfast, we catch our morning flight to Kathmandu. Guide manages all the formalities for your flight and hires porters for your bag and luggage. After you land on Tribhuwan International Airport (Kathmandu) our private vehicle will be there to pick you up and escort towards fine hotel and night will be spent at tourist standard hotel in Kathmandu. Today, we host farewell dinner in the appreciated local restaurant, where you can enjoy Nepalese cultural dance and music with great Nepali dishes.

Day 24: Final day
The final day of the trip, you can go for collecting some memories for your loving one before the flight time. Our company’s private vehicle will take you to airport focusing your flight time for your final departure and our representative wishes for your safe journey and successful forward steps with respects and greetings at the airport.

Visa Information

All visitors are required to arrange a visa in order to enter Nepal. A Nepalese visa can be easily obtained upon arrival on arrival in Kathmandu at the airport or Nepalese embassy abroad. But nationals from Afghanistan, Iraq, Cameroon, Ghana, Somalia, Swaziland, Palestine, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Ethiopia and Liberia cannot secure the Nepalese Visa upon arrival. The Visa can also be secured at entry point at Nepalese borders. A valid passport for at least six months, recent digital photo (size: 1.5" x 1.5") will be required and you can obtain visas for Nepal from the Nepalese Consulate in your country or up on arrival in Kathmandu Airport. Nepalese visas cost USD 25 for 15 days and USD 40 for 30 days till date.

Official Papers

Some of the required official documents are your valid passport, 4 extra passport sized photographs (for trekking permits), travel insurance, airline tickets and luggage tags. Visas can be obtained upon entry into Nepal.

Weather Information

Weather in the mountains is pretty difficult to predict.  Nights are generally cooler and days are warm.  Months of winter (January and February) are bit colder but the days can be quite beautiful and warm if the sun is out. It snows during the month of January, February and December in Himalayan areas.

Best time to travel

Nepal offers diversified geographical regions and so as the climatic condition differs from the Himalayas to the plains. The climate varies as per the season. Nepal generally offers 4 seasons amongst which autumn and spring are the two most favorable ones for visiting Nepal. It is always wise to know about the weather and climatic condition of the place you visit. The best time to travel really depends on your destination, activities and season of travel. Our destination specialists will recommend certain travel times after learning more about your preferences. The favorable months for trekking and climbing are usually September – November, and February – April. The monsoon season is June – August.

Physical Fitness

Even though the physical fitness plays an important role in trekking you don’t have to be super athletes or a marathon runner to trek in Nepal.  Many people of good fitness for their age can complete the trek. You can prepare yourself before hand by doing some yoga which will prepare you in your breathing as you will be going to the higher altitude. Running or hiking to hills, going for a long walk will also help you. And if you live in urban area running in the stairs of a tall building will also work better in keeping you fit for trekking. All though these preparations aren’t strictly compulsory, you can do well even when the preparations you do aren’t rigorous like that of some ultra-athletic person. Do these things in moderate pace for two months or even less.  And you are set to complete any trekking to Nepal.

Travel Insurance

Doing the insurance while trekking is Nepal is not compulsory but will surely help you a lot if you do one, as it covers any comprehensive expenses possible to acquire due to medical issues or accidents. Your travel insurance must protect air ambulance, treatment charge, rescue and evacuation, product cancellation and refundable charges, flight delay and cancellations. We suggest you to bring you travel insurance certificate or send us scan copy and it must be issued from your home land. We do not arrange or sell insurance so you can find your local travel insurance for this.

Vaccination for Nepal

All travelers should consult with their physician or update on vaccination requirements before travel. (Your doctor or health-care provider will determine what you will need, depending on factors such as your health and immunization history, areas of the country you will be visiting, and planned activities) For traveling to Nepal; we recommend you to take a vaccination of Polio, Tetanus, Typhoid, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Rabies etc, it is not really must but recommended.

  • Do proper research about the company that you are planning to trek with and make sure they are legally registered travel agency.
  • You should be well acquainted about the travel health and travel insurance before travelling.
  • Have idea about the climate, geography, temperature and environment of Nepal before starting your trip.
  • Using credit cards instead of cash is a wiser idea.
  • Majority of the Nepalese people are nicer but there are few scammers you will come meet on your way and need to avoid them, for example ‘holy men’ who will try to plant a tika (a red paste denoting a blessing) on your forehead demanding a payment for it on streets.
  • Be careful while buying the medicinal herbs as some may be illegal for you t take home and also be aware of duplicate products.
  • Never get yourself involve in doing drugs, trafficking and sexual relations with children as there is a strict rules for these cases and might get yourself into a big problem.
  • Take copies of your passport, visa, air ticket and trekking permits and keep them separately from the originals.
  • Prepare yourself for altitude sickness and be familiar with its symptoms so that you can follow the guidelines for safe acclimatization.

Are Vaccinations Required?

Immunizations are not required to visit Nepal. (Exception: if you are traveling from an area infected with Yellow Fever, you must have a certificate.) Depending on the season and region of travel, certain vaccinations and/ or medications are suggested and we will recommend preventative measures. We do encourage all travelers to be current on routine immunizations. Also, we recommend the vaccines for polio, Diphtheria, Tetanus, typhoid, yellow fever, hepatitis A/B, Influenza (Flu), Japanese encephalitis, and Tuberculosis. Meantime, it is better to consult your professional doctor about your travel and he/s might recommend you properly. You can also take the suggestion of local travelers who have traveled Nepal before and know more about the required precautions. Please note that the protection that can be gained from vaccines varies from 50% to almost 100%. So remember that even if you have taken a vaccine you might still get the disease, although you will have greatly reduced your chances of getting ill.

How fit do I need to be for the trek?

You don’t have to be a super athletic person but despite the ages should be moderately fit. We recommend to running, hiking to hills and long walk as a preparation.

Are ATM booths easily available?

Yes, ATM booths are easily available around the major city area where you can use both credit and debit cards. But there are only few ATM booths on the way to your trek, so it’s better you withdraw your cash before to trek.

What type of food to expect during the trek? 

Nepal is rich in cultural diversity. Meal habits of the Nepalese vary with the ethnicity and the geographical differences. Normally, the local has a habit of taking milk/black tea in the morning, before noon take lunch after mid-day take light snacks as Khaja and Dinner in the evening. The lunch and dinner comprise Dhido (short of porridge), Dal, Bhat, Tarkari, Achar (Lentil, Rice, Curry, and Pickles). However, you can have a choice of Indian/Continental/Italian/ Chinese food even in some trekking regions.

Is drinking water safe while trekking? 

Drinking water should be treated by boiling and water purification by medicine or with filtered. We suggest carrying a water purifier while trekking to be on a safe side.

Are there any tourist police in Nepal?

Of course, there is tourist police located near the Nepal Tourism Development Board's Office. Also, there are complaint counters at the airport, Basantapur Durbar Square, Thamel and so many other places. Tourist police are specially trained in English and have the detailed local knowledge to assist tourists. Is Nepal safe? Is a woman traveling alone safe with your company?

Nepal is +5 hours 45 minutes ahead to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT: +0545). For example, when it is noon in Kathmandu, the standard time of London is 6.15am, 4.15am in Sydney, 1.15am in New York and 10.15 pm the previous night in San Francisco. The strange 15-minute difference is said to be a reflection of the exact time at the summit of Mt. Gaurishankar.
